Don't Just Play Local. Go Global

Production, arrangement, and mentorship for artists ready to move beyond the local scene.

Austin has a great music scene.  I myself play bass and sing for a jazz big band, we play out about once a month.  I enjoy that a lot, but my ambitions are bigger — I’d like to have my music heard around the world.

For the past few years, I’ve been not just making music, but learning how to promote it. I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way, like making CDs and mailing them to college radio stations.  But now I’m getting a handle on the process of social media promotion.  I’d like to work on projects with musicians who “think big” — who have the ambition of hearing their music go global, and understand the commitment involved in making music at that level.

The Full Stack Producer

I've done a bit of everything -- I play bass, I sing, both on my own and in choirs. I'm musically trained. I write both lyrics and music, I produce songs, and promote them on social media. I think I'm like a full stack developer, who can add value at every step of the process.

The Problem: "Most producers hand you a wav file and say 'Good luck.'"

My Solution: "Create good music (which is hard enough!) and then work on the engine to get it heard."

  • Dept. 1: The Lab (Production)

Focus: Songs, arrangement, high-quality recording --"The Art."

  • Dept. 2: The Launchpad (Promotion)

Focus: Meta Ads (Facebook/Instagram), YouTube Campaigns, Spotify Growth.

You Already Know: Social Media is Critical for Promotion

If you have any old preconceptions about how music is promoted today, you can put them aside. Social media is it. Maybe you've looked at Meta Ads Manager or Google Ads and have seen how confusing they are. It's easy to go off into the weeds. I've been working through those for a couple of years now, and have gotten to the point where I've had a couple of successful campaigns. I've put some information about those below. If you are familiar with the ads interfaces, there are many detailed reports available, and I'm happy to talk about those, but what I show below are what users would see.

For my next step, I want to work on projects that can become self-sustaining -- "blowing up" would be great, but solid organic growth is the primary goal. And I'm actively looking for musical partners in Austin
